Grading
This is a general overview of grading within Woodford Karate Club.

Kyu Grading
The current maximum cost for Kyu grading is set at £10.00 for junior members and £12.00 for senior members to include certificate but not the belt. Training attached to the grading may be charged at a reasonable rate. Juniors taking a Mon grade will be half the cost at £5.00 but will not receive a certificate until the full grade is passed.

9th Kyu
Red belt junior grade only
8th Mon
White belt with yellow stripe
8th Kyu
Yellow belt adults should generally start at this level
7th Mon
White belt with orange stripe
7th Kyu
Orange belt
6th Mon
White belt with green stripe
6th Kyu
Green belt
5th Mon
White belt with blue stripe
5th Kyu
Blue belt
4th Mon
White belt with purple stripe
4th Kyu
Purple belt
3rd mon
White belt with a brown stripe

Dan Grading
People under 16 years of age may be graded up to 1st Dan only, and be known as a junior Dan grade. Once they reach 16 years of age with their group heads recommendation to the Wado-UK they will automatically have their grade converted to Senior status and be registered with the governing body.
Time required to achieve grading:
| Beginner to 1st Dan | minimum 3 years | |

| 2nd Dan to 3rd Dan | minimum 3 years plus minimum age of 21 | |
| 3rd Dan to 4th Dan | minimum 4 years | |
| 4th Dan to 5th Dan | minimum 5 years | |
| 5th Dan to 6th Dan | minimum 6 years | |
| 6th Dan to 7th Dan | minimum 7 years |
Current maximum cost of a Dan grade is £20-00 for both junior & senior plus £40-00 registration fee if successful which includes the plain cotton black belt and certificate.
